Turning a story into a learning engagement
Turning a story into a learning engagement for toddlers provides a holistic and developmentally appropriate way for them to explore language, cognitive skills, imagination, emotions, and social connections in a supportive and enriching environment.
Engaging with stories exposes our Grade 0000’s to new words, sentence structures, and storytelling conventions, which helps expand their vocabulary.
Stories provide opportunities for students to practice memory recall, sequencing, and problem-solving as they follow the plot, remember characters.
Storytelling encourages Grade 0000’s to use their imagination to visualise characters, settings, and events in the story. Engaging in imaginative play based on story themes, such as dressing up as characters or building story-related scenes with toys, cultivates creativity and allows them to explore their own ideas and interpretations.
Stories often convey important social and emotional lessons and themes, such as empathy, kindness, and friendship. Engaging with stories provides opportunities for them to identify and discuss emotions, learn about social interactions, and develop empathy for others through activities like role-playing.
Overall, sharing stories with our Grade 0000 creates opportunities for meaningful interaction and connection.
