At Crawford International La Lucia Pre-Primary, we inspire a curiosity for learning and encourage our students to explore, discover, and experiment through meaningful play opportunities.

At Crawford International La Lucia Pre-Primary, we equip students with the skills they need to succeed in a formal learning environment when they move to Grade 1. Our Pre-Primary forms part of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 – 12.

Future-focused Skills
Emphasis is placed on gross and fine motor, perceptual, cognitive, language and numeracy development. Thinking skills are honed, and students are encouraged to explore a variety of options when problem-solving to discover a workable solution. Through thinking routines, we teach our students to question and form opinions, which are expressed through:
- Discussion and reflection;
- Voice, choice, and ownership of learning;
- Drawing; painting and creating;
- Baking, drama and music, and;
- Role play and dramatisation.
A school readiness assessment is done on all our Grade 0 students with the additional optional support of hearing and eye tests conducted during the Grade 00 or Grade 0 school year.

Sports, Arts & Culture
Crawford International La Lucia Pre-Primary, believes it is vital for all our students to develop gross-motor and coordination skills and to be water safe in the pool. These important skills are taught through our sports programme, which is built into our weekly timetable. Our experienced coach teaches water safety and swimming in our school pool
in the summer and gross-motor skills in the winter.
We also motivate our students to try new pursuits by offering a variety of opportunities within
and beyond the classroom.

Facilities
Crawford Kidz Club
Our Crawford Kidz Club runs each afternoon of term until 17:30. The afternoon includes structured activities to further develop essential skills, balanced with free play.
Art Studio
Art is enjoyed by our students as they freely explore a variety of art mediums and techniques under the gentle guidance of our specialist Art teacher in our bright and colourful art room.
Digital Literacy Programme
Our programme helps students develop essential 21-century skills and enables them to navigate, analyse, and create using various tools across multiple platforms.
