Grade 7 Students Champion Sustainable Future at the UN SDGs Exhibition
In an impressive showcase of dedication, our Grade 7 PYP students recently presented an exhibition centred on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event, attended by parents, school community members, and the Head of School, marked the culmination of extensive research and collaborative learning.
The exhibition commenced with in-depth research on specific SDGs, delving into their root causes, status, and potential solutions. Students then crafted actionable plans aimed at creating positive local and global impacts. Their presentations, filled with passion and understanding, were conveyed through multimedia displays and interactive discussions.
Parents and community members actively engaged, asking insightful questions, and expressing pride in the students' accomplishments. These interactions sparked essential dialogues about sustainability and collective action. Notably, the Head of School praised the students' commitment, reinforcing the school's dedication to nurturing responsible global citizens.
The exhibition resulted in several impactful initiatives proposed by students. These included educational workshops for younger grades, community clean-up events addressing waste management, fundraising for NGOs supporting SDGs-related causes, social media advocacy campaigns, and the establishment of a school garden promoting sustainable agriculture.
The school stands firmly behind these initiatives, recognising the students' fervour and believing in the potential positive outcomes. Moving forward, integration of sustainability education across all grades is a priority, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of global issues and encouraging proactive engagement.
This Grade 7 exhibition, a testament to students' dedication and comprehension, not only highlighted their academic achievements but also underscored their roles as contributors to a sustainable world. With these initiatives, they are not merely fulfilling academic requirements; they are actively shaping a more responsible, conscientious global community. We eagerly anticipate the transformative impact of their endeavours, confident in their ability to make a meaningful difference.
Crawford International North Coats’s Triumph at 'Tournament of the Minds
In the realm of creative problem-solving, 'Tournament of the Minds' stands as a beacon, inspiring students worldwide to explore the realms of teamwork, creative thinking, and critical analysis. This esteemed competition annually unites young minds from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and our very own South Africa.
We are delighted to announce the outstanding achievements of our students from Crawford International North Coast in the recent regional finals. Remarkably, five winning teams emerged, spanning various age groups. At Crawford Prep, two teams secured notable positions. One triumphed, claiming the Language Literature trophy, while the other garnered Honours certificates in the same category. Crawford Cares: Stationery collection for Addington Primary School
To foster empathy, kindness, and the spirit of giving among our students, our school recently did a stationery drive for our Term 3 outreach project. The stationery collected from this outreach project was donated to Addington Primary School. Addington Primary is a school but has limited access to basic educational resources. We are thrilled to say that this outreach project was a great success and we have been able to provide the students at Addington Primary with the tools they need to achieve their full learning potential. The students at Crawford International North Coast donated a total of 1989 items of stationery to Addington Primary School. On the 21st of September 2023, we had the opportunity to deliver the stationery to Addington Primary School, where the stationery was accepted with much appreciation by both the students and teachers at Addington. We would like to thank everyone who was involved for their generosity.
