Crawford International Bryanston Celebrates BEE DAY!
Our Grade 00 students embarked on an exciting journey into the world of bees, embodying the IB learner profiles of being a communicator and an inquirer. With buzzing enthusiasm, our students delved into the realm of pollinators, proving their inquisitive nature and effective communication skills throughout the activities.
This event was part of our WESSA initiative, celebrating World Bee Day, which took place on Monday, 20 May 2024. Our day began with crafting pinecone bees, an engaging activity that allowed students to express their creativity while learning about the anatomy and significance of these vital pollinators. As inquirers, the students asked thoughtful questions about the bees' roles in our ecosystem, showing a genuine curiosity about how these tiny creatures contribute to the health of our planet.
The Grade 0 students explored sensory trays filled with bee-friendly goodies, such as flowers, honeycomb, and various textures that mimic a bee's environment. This hands-on experience provided a multi-sensory approach to learning, encouraging students to communicate their observations and findings with their peers.
Throughout the day, we celebrated the vital role bees play in our ecosystem and discussed ways to protect and support these tiny heroes. By embodying the IB learner profiles of communicator and inquirer, our students not only learned about bees but also developed essential skills that will serve them in all areas of life. This hive of activity highlighted the joy of learning and the importance of preserving our natural world.
